Roman Reigns is not fighting Cody Rhodes for his first title defense post WrestleMania 39

But, don't worry, WWE probably doesn't plan on having Roman Reigns drop his championship on a non-television show.

Roman Reigns has stood tall against all opposition, asserting his claim as the Tribal Chief. Despite a lack of recent title defenses, Reigns has consistently proven himself to be the immovable object of the WWE universe. However, after a two-month hiatus, the Tribal Chief will soon step into the ring to defend his gold.

Roman Reigns' involvement in future WWE events, even if they're not televised, is a good sign for the WWE.

Following his momentous victory over Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania Night Two on April 2, Reigns' next title defense takes place this weekend, against none other than WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio. This title bout is scheduled for Saturday, June 17, at the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, as part of a non-televised WWE live event.

Following WrestleMania, the only other instance Reigns stepped into the ring was at Night of Champions. Reigns and Solo Sikoa challenged the reigning champions Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships. The highlight of the match wasn't Reigns' defeat, but the ensuing drama when the Usos attacked Reigns, signaling a split from The Bloodline.

Solo Sikoa is currently torn between his twin brothers and Roman Reigns.

Reigns' summer schedule is the complete opposite of his post-WrestleMania 39 appearances. The Tribal Chief's upcoming schedule is packed with ten events leading up to SummerSlam on August 5.

While most of these events are SmackDown television tapings, there are several non-televised appearances and premium live events, including the upcoming bout against Mysterio and two other premium live events: Money in the Bank on July 1 (London, UK) and SummerSlam on August 5 (Detroit).

The match against Mysterio holds high stakes. It will mark Reigns' first defense of the all-new Undisputed WWE Universal Championship belt, unveiled to honor his surpassing 1,000 days as champion. While it seems unlikely that Mysterio, a 48-year-old WWE Hall of Famer, could wrest the title away from Reigns at a non-televised event, fans are, nevertheless, excited to see Reigns address the "criticism" and be more like his former stablemate, Seth Rollins, who's willing to defend his championship at non-PLE events.

In the meantime, Cody Rhodes is teasing a match with Dominik Mysterio at Money in the Bank.

Another twist in the tale is the tension brewing within the Bloodline faction. Reigns' return to Friday Night SmackDown will be fraught with tension as he seeks answers from Jey Uso regarding his loyalty, potentially shaking up the dynamics within the faction.

In the world of professional wrestling, few names resonate as powerfully as Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and the WWE. An all-timer in Roman Reigns, holding the Universal Championship in an iron grip since August 2020, has surpassed the 1,000-day mark as the title holder, marking an era of dominance seldom witnessed in the WWE universe.

While an underdog, Rey Mysterio has proven many times in the past that he shouldn't be underestimated.

With The Head of the Table's reign continuing and a packed summer schedule, fans of WWE can expect to see a thrilling few months ahead. Regardless of the outcomes, Roman Reigns' reign as the Universal Champion has cemented his place in WWE history, and his upcoming bouts promise to be memorable additions to his impressive career.
