Maxel Jacob Friedman, better known as the All Elite Wrestling superstar, MJF, is scheduled to defend his championship at the Wembley Stadium in London in August. But, while most AEW fans are looking forward to seeing MJF in the UK, he's the exact opposite of excited.
MFJ recently made headlines for his bold remarks about making history as being the first to defend an AEW world championship in the United Kingdom.
According to MJF, he'd rather "die" than go to the UK, and he's sure that the AEW's owner, Tony Khan, will make him go there against his wishes because Khan "sucks."
MJF later acknowledged the importance of AEW All In, saying:
Every single show we put on is the best because we have the best talent pool, we have the highest energy crowds and we have the biggest star of them all - Maxwell Jacob Friedman. It's the one show you need to go to, because what we're doing is we're making history.
It's going to be the biggest crowd in the history of this promotion we've ever been in front of. It's going to be the loudest, most obnoxious, most drunk, most European fans we've been in front of.
The upcoming AEW event, known as All In, is expected to pull in the crowd, especially given MJF's participation. He'll be there, belt and all, ready to defend his crown. With a star like MJF confirmed for the event and the high stakes of a world championship defense, it promises to be a thrilling show.
AEW and its wrestlers are surely looking forward to making history in the UK.
Tony Khan previously confirmed that the AEW has already sold more than 60,000 tickets for the event. This number can still grow in the next few months. But, regardless of how much more people will watch, AEW All In is already scheduled to set the record as the most-attended AEW show of all time, beating the current record holder, Grand Slam 2021, which seats just over 20,000 fans.
It's unclear who MJF will be facing at All In on August 27, but he'll have to make sure that he holds on to the title until then.
For now, MJF will have to defend his title at the Double or Nothing PPV on May 28 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Speaking of the AEW, the upstart wrestling promotion is expected to be part of Warner Bros. Discovery's presentation later this week. It's been implied that the AEW and WBD have signed a five-year TV deal worth billions of dollars with the newly rebranded Max streaming service housing AEW's library of shows and PPVs.
